Tell us something unique about your store:

We focus on independent designers who produce their gowns sustainably and ethically.

Your stylist's favorite OUMA dress and how do they style it?

Serena! We'd style her with a low, slicked back ponytail, cascading pearl hairpiece, and low block heels.

How would you describe the OUMA brand?

Epic, couture, and cool.

Share your top 3 tips for bridal dress shopping:

1: You don't have to participate in any tradition that doesn't feel right to you

2: Do more research upfront and try on fewer gowns

3: Ask your stylist to pick a "wildcard." Something totally different than what you've asked for, but that they think would look great on you.

The Laurene is a bias-cut silk blend dress featuring a high collar and open back. The dress has a relaxed fit due to the strategically placed pleats on the side with a leg opening.

The low open back comes with a softly draped cowl detail that draws attention to the beautiful back design. Because it is cut on one piece of fabric on the bias grain, we designed the entire back piece without a seam so it looks even more sleek and modern. The playful bow detail with long tails is detachable which gives you two looks essentially.

The Laurene dress is classic yet modern, elegant but sexy. It will be perfect for a beach wedding, city-chic ceremony, or any wedding-related events such as elopement, rehearsal dinner, or reception.

The OUMA label is the eponymous creation of Artistic Director and Designer, Ou Ma. With over 16 years spent designing, Ma has dressed celebrities from the likes of Anne Hathaway, Christy Turlington, and Kate Winslet, and has received major accolades in Vogue Italia, WWD, and New York Magazine. Her designs have been showcased at New York Fashion Week.

Established in 2016 within the heart of Vancouver's Gastown, OUMA started as a custom bridal design studio and offered one-of-a-kind wedding dresses for local Vancouver brides. Since its inception, OUMA distinguished itself by delivering fashion-forward, chic, and timeless bridal designs, quickly earning a reputation for its commitment to sophistication and individuality.

During the pandemic, OUMA swiftly adapted to meet the needs of brides seeking elopement dresses or outfits for civil ceremonies. OUMA introduced a range of options, including bridal separates, pantsuits, short dresses, and sleek, simple designs, available both online and in-studio for both Vancouver and international brides. In response to the challenges posed by the pandemic, Designer Ma innovatively introduced virtual fittings for brides who ordered custom dresses from locations beyond Vancouver, ensuring timely delivery. OUMA successfully built a robust online following during these challenging times.

Now, OUMA stands as a female-owned and female-led business that creates one bridal collection per year with more than 14 wholesale stockists around the world. Central to OUMA’s mission is a commitment to zero-waste practices, not only utilizing fabric scraps for accessory creation but also engineering bridal outfits that can be worn over and over again.

For those embarking on West Coast wedding dress shopping, OUMA is the epitome of a bridal boutique. Ou Ma, the Canadian bridal designer at the helm, has transformed the studio into a haven for those seeking custom wedding dresses, couture bridal designs, and styles ranging from romantic to modern wedding dresses. OUMA's distinctive approach to bridal design has elevated it to prominence in the Canadian bridal scene, offering brides an unparalleled experience of sophistication and personalized style.
